Natural Tips & Ideas to Save Your Money and Health
Stay Safe and stay on Budget! You can throw the fancy brands away and it's "natural living for me!" Here are some ideas to help.
Natural Homemade Cough Suppressant
Coughing is the body’s way of removing foreign material or mucus from the lungs and upper airway passages or reacting to an irritated airway. By combining a mixture of ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of raw honey makes a quick syrup for a sore scratchy throat or persistent hacking cough.
Healthy Kitchen Substitutions
Whether it's baking or cooking, there are always some incredible healthy alternatives out there to substitute one ingredient for another keeping it simple and flavorful. There's also many that have bombed, these are some that seem to work without compromising your recipe one little bit.
Substitute Vanilla Extract for Sugar: Cutting sugar in half and adding a teaspoon of vanilla as a replacement can give just as much flavor with significantly less (you guessed it) sugar. You can't sub this one in equal ratios, but next time you're baking cut 2 tablespoons of sugar and adding an extra 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Substitute Unsweetened Applesauce for Butter: The applesauce gives the right consistency and a hint of sweetness while keeping the dairy away. This works well in any sweet bread, like banana or zucchini, or in muffins—and even with pre-boxed mixes. On your first try, only try swapping out half the fat: A recipe using 1 cup butter would use 1/2 cup oil and 1/2 cup applesauce. Fresh Herbs & Lemon Juice for Salt: Fresh herbs, garlic powder and citrus juice can provide just as much flavor without the added risks of excess sodium intake. Flavor galore. Greek Yogurt for Sour Cream: Lighten up your taco by opting for Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. You’ll never taste the difference, plus Greek yogurt offers an extra dose of lean protein. Flax Seeds for Eggs: Believe it or not, hearty-healthy flax seeds can be used as an egg substitute! Simply mix 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseeds with 3 tablespoons of water until fully absorbed and viscous. Use in place of one egg. (You can use pre-ground flaxseeds or grind them yourself in a spice or coffee grinder.) |

The power of the coconut is upon us. With so many health benefits internally and externally there are a thousand uses for it around the home. Nasty Toilets no more!
No Need to Scrub Your Toilet Ever AGAIN! One of a 1000 uses for your old friend vinegar. Fill a mason jar with vinegar. Punch a couple of small holes in the metal lid with a nail. Drop that jar into your toilet’s water tank upside down. With each flush, a little vinegar will seep out of the jar and keep your toilets clean and mildew free. How 'bout that?
Sanitize your kitchen sponge in the Microwave
No need to soak in harsh chemicals. To kill the bacteria on your sponges, microwave a damp sponge for two minutes. Be sure that it is damp or you will just melt the thing into a big messy blob.
